A Coruña: Two-Day Guide

If you only have two days in A Coruña, Spain, you’ll want to see the best attractions in this beautiful seaside city. Here are some tips and ideas to help you plan your visit:

Things you’ll need:

  • Good walking shoes for exploring the city, especially by the sea and in the old town. Waterproof shoes are even better since it rains a lot in Galicia.
  • Raincoat and umbrella in case it rains while you’re out and about.

Day 1

  • Start your day at a local market for breakfast and some souvenirs. You could also try some yummy local pastries (we suggest rosquillas) at a bakery or churros con chocolate.
  • Visit a local Galician supermarket like Gadis or Froiz to buy snacks for a picnic lunch (Gadis has a great Galician empanada).

  • Take a bike ride or walk along the Paseo Maritimo (the longest seaside promenade in Europe) by the beach.
  • Visit the Torre de Hercules lighthouse, which you can explore for free or climb for a fee.
  • Relax in the park near the lighthouse and walk around the city to see the pretty plazas and parks.

  • Find a café or bar serving Galician food and sample some local fare (pulpo or octopus, navajas or razor clams, and padrón peppers which are vegetarian are all good options).

Day 2

  • Enjoy breakfast at a café and explore the neighborhood.
  • Walk along Avenida de la Marina to see the famous glass galleries.
  • Take the funicular up Monte de San Pedro for amazing views of the city and coast.

  • Visit a science museum like Casa de las Ciencias or Aquarium Finisterrae for some educational fun.

  • Head to the old town and walk along Calle Real to Plaza María Pita. As you go, stop and sample different dishes anywhere that looks good (order a media ración for a half portion).
  • Finally, walk back toward the city center along the marina, and have organic ice cream from Biofactory for dessert (we suggest the frutas de bosque con chocolate, but all the flavors are amazing).

With comfy shoes, rain gear, and these tips, you’ll have a great time exploring A Coruña in two days. Enjoy your visit to this lovely city in Galicia!
